Established in late 2006 and becoming operational in 2008, PharmaBlock R&D Co.Ltd. provides pure and innovative chemistry services to pharmaceutical and biotech companies worldwide. Included are a specially designed catalog, contract service in synthetic and medicinal chemistry, and large-scale synthesis. The business model of PharmaBlock is “fee-for-service”. We are however open to other collaborations proposed by our clients. Strict confidentiality of the IP of our clients is of paramount importance to our company and to our scientists.

The company currently has 35 chemists including 6 Ph.D returnees from US. The expertise of the team covers the areas of medicinal chemistry, total synthesis, heterocyclic chemistry, nucleoside chemistry and methodology development. As a team of experienced medicinal chemists and process chemists, we feel that the productivity in drug discovery was not only reflected in how many compounds made but more importantly, on what are the compounds made and how they are constructed. We believe that innovation in chemistry service will help to accelerate the lead-generation and lead-optimization processes in drug discovery.

The company is located at the Hi-Tech Zone of Nanjing, a city with 53 universities and colleges, and is 180 miles west of Shanghai. The newly-opened PharmaBlock Research building has 60,000 square feet of laboratory space and currently has 6 laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art synthetic instruments such as microwave synthesizers, parallel synthesizers and combiflash systems. The quality of our products is strictly controlled by our analytical department which currently employs Bruker 400 MHz NMR and Agilent 1200 LC/MS instruments.
